The "brief" written on the windscreen of the car was: "If this Beetle were to embark on a journey across the world, what should it tell about Cardiff? Write and draw."
People really engaged with writing and drawing on the car, and enjoyed it. One quote was "Thanks so much, I had so much fun doing that!"
Facilitation was important, describing the brief to people and prompting their thoughts about the city. "Do you live in Cardiff? What's your favourite bit? What's dear to you?" Without facilitation, people had a tendency to add whatever message mattered to them but not necessarily relevant to the city.
People really stopped and thought about what matters to them about their city, prompting a self-exploration and awareness of something that they tend to take for granted. Comments were "Ooh that's hard!" and then when finished writing "That was really good!"
