TradeSchool Cardiff 'Reduce Reuse Recycle'

Join us for TradeSchool Cardiff 'REDUCE REUSE RECYCLE' between 13-17 October 2015 as part of the Exchange in Roath Festival.

In 2011 ThinkARK launched the first Trade School Cardiff with the aim of encouraging people to share their practical skills and knowledge and experience in in exchange for goods or services. Over 70 people registered for the first ever Tradeschool, learning a whole range of skills from basic sewing, bike maintenance to approaches to combating boredom with a piece of paper.

For the next Tradeschool, ThinkARK is partnering up with Exchange in Roath (A giant swap shop event) as part of the Made in Roath Festival working with the theme 'Reduce, Reuse, Recycle'.

We will be running classes over four days in two locations (The Pelican Nursery and outside the Mackintosh Centre in Roath) on the 13, 14, 15 & 17 October 2015.

From household hacks to revolutionary repairs, we are looking for people to share their skills, information and knowledge as part of the exchange.

To run a class - this is the way it works:
- You decide what you can teach to other people (think about the things you love doing like drawing, cooking, gardening, computers, fixing bikes, telling stories - your class can be as serious or as fun as you like).
- We can help you to plan and run your class.

It's Sunday and I think I have finally recovered from from an amazing week of Trade School. I have learnt so many things: how to repair chairs, knit scarves for mice, how to bind my own notebooks, the Polish word for flip flops (it's Klapki) and most of all I have learnt how generous and sharing you all are! I met lots of lovely people and I'm really hoping we can do it again. A massive thanks to Laura (the unsung hero) for getting it all off the ground. It was touch and go finding a venue (thanks to www.indycube.biz) but it all worked out in the end.

So here are a few photos so you can see what we got up to: http://www.flickr.com/photos/32555040@N02/sets/72157631724463879/

A big thanks too, to all the amazing teachers and to everyone who attended. Hope you come back next term.

It would be good to hear your thoughts to on the project and how we move it forward so don't forget to pop along to Wednesday Club too.
